It would be impossible for a granite or marble supplier to accurately post prices. Not only do the prices of the materials vary from one type to the next, but the pricing is based heavily on finishing.
The labour adds up so fast and that is what really makes these materials expensive. For instance, many suppliers charge about $250 to cut a sink hole for an over-mount sink, more for an under-mount. 3/4-inch thick granite is obviously cheaper than 1-1/4″ granite, but you can opt for 3/4″ with a doubled edge to create the look of a thicker material, but this costs too.
If you require only a finished front, the cost will be less than if the two sides have to be finished also.
Some places charge another $250 or so to seal the stone.
A waterfall profile on the edges is costlier than a square front.
The list of what affects the price goes on and on.
You really have to go speak to a supplier to get accurate pricing information, or you can find one from your area on the Internet, choose stone you like from the photos on their website, then fax or email them the specifics of your project in order to obtain accurate pricing. Good luck.
By the way, selecting granite or marble from a photo on a website is taking a bit of a risk because the deeper into the quarries they go to extract stone, the colouration & pattern varies.
So if the photo was taken a year ago, there’s no guarantee that your granite will look much like it.

The answer above is near perfect. Most granites will have a starting price of $45. 00 per sq. Foot. But if you only have a small counter you may have to purchase the slab or a remnant to get the price down.
